Yarn pumpkins are all the rage! You can use your crochet skills to create this fun crocheted pumpkin decoration as a gift or to liven up your home with this step-by-step video tutorial.
This video tutorial below uses the 3rd Loop Half Double Crochet to create the “striping” on the pumpkin and it is one of my favorite stitches to add texture and stripes to a project.
I have included the written instructions below the video.
Let’s dig right in. Grab your hook and yarn and let’s stitch!

- Fasten off the yarn, ensuring it is secured
- Hot glue a cinnamon stick into the center of the circle
- Decorate
Now you have your very own crocheted pumpkin!!
This pumpkin can be made with a variety of stitches including the Herringbone Stitch. The key is to find a stitch that creates the lines you would see on a pumpkin to make it more “realistic”.
