It’s true, some music makes you feel really good!
I always struggle to say I love music. I mean…I do love music, but it is so much more than that for me. I was born with music in my soul! As a child, my mom would always talk about how I was always singing. I had my first solo in Kindergarten; it was the beginning part of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer…you know Dasher, and Dancer, and Prancer, and Vixen? I even play the piano and several other brass instruments. Every morning when I wake up, I have a song in my head…and I usually sing it mindlessly all day (which gets really annoying when it’s a song I don’t like). Then, when I’m alone in my car, I sing like I’m famous…even though, much to my dismay, I am not that talented.
I love all kinds of music. You are just as likely to find me listening to classical music as today’s hits.
I am a musical person.
I credit my deep love of all things musical with much of my ability to snap myself out of a bad mood and consistently find things I love in life, no matter what I’m going through.
And, I have science to back me up!
VeryWell Mind provides a great list of some of the spectacular things music that have been associated with.
This list includes:
- Improve Learning
- Reducing Stress
- Eating Less
- Improving Memory
- Managing Pain
- Improving Mood
- Improving Sleep
- Increase Motivation
- Alleviate Depression
- Increase Endurance & Performance
Studies have also shown that children who listen to classical music in the classroom learn more effectively and are more creative than classrooms with no music.
All of these things are so impressive that music therapy has grown in popularity over the last several years.
According to the Cleveland Clinic, music therapy has many benefits for patients, saying “Music therapy may help you psychologically, emotionally, physically, spiritually, cognitively and socially. ”
So if you are struggling, maybe it’s time to give music a try!
Psst! You can also check out the video above for some great songs to add to your playlist. They are sure to spin you out of that funk, help you feel motivated, and make you love your life!
